The SVSEF would like students to create a virtual map, using a mobile tracking and mapping service and application, of Baldy and Dollar ski and snowboard runs and terrain as well as the North Valley XC Trail System.

The SVSEF envisions this project as a mulit-year project, with phases being completed by different age groups and individuals over time.

The project can be started by one student or by a classroom of students. Students do NOT need to be members of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foudation to participate.

We envision the first year or two of TRACKS being an on-snow project and then expanding to hiking, biking, walking and even climbing.

Students could brainstorm to create categories for the maps, such as:

  • Best Dollar Bump Runs
  • Best Dollar Big Air
  • Best North Valley XC Trail for short Hill Climbs
  • Best Baldy Powder Runs

We would like this project to be created as a service and then marketed to various local organizations for use as an Information tool on websites. For example, the BCRD might want to post the maps on their website, the Sun Valley Ketchum Marketing Alliance might post the maps on their screens at the Visitor’s Center. Sun Valley Resort might be approcahed to consider using the product on their website.

We envision this project becoming a great informational tool for visitors and locals alike.
