Adopt a Hallway and Fill it with Book-Inspired Art
Adopt a Hallway at The Community Library and fill it with book inspired art!
The Community Library has a hallway between The Children’s Library and the main library where they often have art displays. A class would be able to adopt the hallway and display a piece of art they created that was inspired by a book or another piece of literature. The Children’s Library would host an artist’s reception where we invite the student artists, their parents, and the community. Students would have a chance to discuss their art and then the art would stay on display for a limited amount of time (to be determined, about 2-4 months).
The hallway has 15 pre-installed panels from which art can be hung. If lightweight, additional art can be adhered to the panels. The works of art will need to be 2-dimensional. The library cannot accommodate 3 dimensional works such as pottery or sculptures in this space. (Teachers can make a visit to check out the space or photos can be provided upon request, and determine the framework of the art based on what is best for their curriculum. Note: the space is not climate controlled according to art industry standards).
If desired, students can be involved in hanging, labeling, and displaying the artwork. Students will also be invited to an artist’s reception, if this is desired at part of the project.
