Summary

Each year Girls on the Run produces a unique 5k running/walking event that hundreds of community members, program participants and their family members comes out to complete. It’s not your average ordinary 5k. . . . we color our hair, we do a warm up dance at the beginning, we have caped “Running Heroes” going up and down the course just to lift everyone’s spirits, and we have local business with teams competing the for “Best Spirit” award.

New this year in 2016 we are making it a color/paint run to take the fun aspect up a notch. We need teams of “Running Heroes” to travel (by foot/bike/skate) up and down the course just to cheer the participants on. Heroes will also be positioned at the paint stations to throw paint!

Description

The Girls on the Run Community 5k is the organization’s largest fundraising event. It’s also a chance for our 3rd-5th grade program participants to complete their 5k race goal along side their families and the community. We strive to create a unique 5k experience that our participants will not only gain a strong sense of the goal the completed, but always remember how much fun they can have participating in an athletic event.

The Girls on the Run organization helped to support the “Paint the Town 5k” each July for the last three years. With the need to pass this fun event on to another organization to keep the event going, Girls on the Run is undertaking the great cost of adding paint to their already established run.

Blaine County youth in grades 6th-12th can come out to support the event by being a “Running Hero” and/or throwing paint. They can help spread the word in our community about the event, therefore helping to cover costs associated with putting on the event, help secure paint sponsors, or create a fundraiser to directly offset the paint costs. This project cost reflects just the cost of adding paint to the race.
