Come on down to The Mountain School Farm and meet some of the local “Kids”!

This project will connect our 2nd grade students with our fiber and milking goats. Farm manager, John DeLorenzo, will assist multiple children in the warm and appropriate ways to interact with and care for goats. Petting, brushing and feeding can all be experienced by the children. John will demonstrate the art of milking a lactating female Nubian goat and can demonstrate the first stages of cheesemaking. We will also have the tools of the fiber crafting arts on hand in the form of raw sheared wool from our Pygora goats, a carding machine, drop spindles and wool in various stages from raw to dyed as well as spun yarn ready for knitting into completed examples of hats, scarves, sweaters, etc. This project is a wonderful way to demonstrate ‘Whole Systems Practical Arts’ in action!
