Empower yourself and others through writing.

Personal writing can indeed influence social change. Your generation has the power to make the world a better place. Your thoughts, stories and words can make a difference.

February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. Each year, the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual & Domestic Violence, through the Center for Healthy Teen Relationships, engages young people to join the movement to create compassionate communities by writing about healthy, unhealthy, and even abusive relationships. Young people who are empowered through awareness and education on healthy relationships are less likely to engage in violence or to think violence is acceptable.

Adopt this project and everyone in your class will submit a short poem, essay, or even a haiku! The Advocates will provide your class with simple writing guidelines. The Advocates will also display your work during our NTDVAP month community event as well as submit them in a state-wide contest, where you can win a cash prize. Last year’s first place prize was 0! This must be completed by December, 2014 for entry into the statewide contest.
