The goal of the Dog Trainers of the Future Program is to help students understand how to safely and effectively work with animals. The Shelter focuses on force free, positive dog training which helps create a very fun and rewarding experience for the students and the dogs.

The Shelter’s Program Coordinator will visit the class and show the students how dog behavior is evaluated and how new behaviors are learned.

Students will learn the basics of positive reinforcement dog training skills.

Shelter dogs will benefit from the time they spend with the students on their field trip.

Class Visits & Field Trips

  • 1 class visit to introduce project outline to the students.
  • 1 class visit to further prepare the students for their class visit.
  • 1 field trip to the Shelter where students will break into dog training groups.
