Warm Welcomes for Newborns

Students will tour the Mother-Baby Unit and invest in Halo Sleepsacks for newborns. Halo Sleepsacks are like little sleeping bags for newborns that keep them safe and snug while allowing them to move their legs. After the tour and investment, students will make a video to document their experience.

This project is threefold: the student tour, the investment, and the video. Students will first visit the Hospital for a tour with a special look at the Mother-Baby Unit. Nurses will demonstrate how the Halo Sleepsack works and how it helps newborn babies.

The Halo Sleepsacks promote safe sleep habits for mothers and their babies. It allows for babies to be placed on their backs which is the safest sleep position; keeps them warm by being all enclosing; swaddles the baby while allowing for freedom of leg movement, which is most beneficial.

The students will invest in the Halo Sleepsacks and customize gift tags for each that describe the student generosity initiative. Finally, the students will recap their experience by creating a video.
